Scholarship Program

The 2025-2026 scholarship has been awarded.
We will begin taking applications for the 2027 scholarship in September 2026.

Program Overview

The goal of our program is to support aspiring pilots, benefit the aviation community, and further Flywell interests.

The Scholarship Includes:

A 2-year membership in Flywell Flying Club including access to Flywell aircraft at member rates
Scholarship members are responsible for monthly dues and hourly flying costs
Scholarship members will keep current with monthly flying expenses
At end of scholarship period, the scholarship member is invited to join the club as a full member

The Right Applicant

Clear Goals

Has specific and realistic goals for advancement in aviation, such as obtaining a private pilot license, qualifying for an aviation profession, or contributing to a charitable cause.

Financial Need

Has demonstrated a need for financial assistance to progress toward their aviation goals.

Community Contribution

Will contribute to the betterment of Flywell and/or the Minnesota aviation community.

Age Requirement

Is at least 16 years old on or before the application close date.

Student Pilot Certificate

At minimum, holds a current FAA Student Pilot Certificate or has a pending application in IACRA at time of application.

Financial Responsibility

Has demonstrated ability to pay ongoing flying costs and fixed costs associated with club membership.

Typical Scholarship Timeline

September

Applications Open

Scholarship application period begins. Application form becomes available.

October 31

Application Deadline

All applications must be submitted by this date.

November

Review Period

Committee reviews applications and may conduct interviews.

December

Scholarship Awarded

Recipient is announced and notified.

January

Scholarship Begins

2-year scholarship membership period starts.
